Water: Without it you will die in a week

Dehydration occurs due to increased blood osmotic pressure, decreased blood volume and a reduced supply of saliva to the body. All of these reactions in the body stimulate your sense of thirst, which is located in the hypothalamus in the brain. Sadly, this process is rather slow, and you can sometimes only realize that you are thirsty when it is too late.

While you can survive without food for thirty days and can only survive a few days without water, you are surely going to feel hungry long before you feel thirsty.

Normal functioning adults need six to eight glasses of water each day. If you exercise, then you need to drink more than this. Before exercising, drink a minimum of half a liter of water and make sure that you have access to water during your training session. If you want to remain hydrated, you need electrolytes and water.
